My favourite woodland is the one I am privileged to look out upon every day from our window. It is a large woodland, which covers the valley through which runs the stream Hollocombe Water - flowing into the River Taw. This woodland is mostly oak, and is beautiful every day of the year - changing colour constantly. This is one of the most lovely winter mornings when hoar frost coated every twig in white crystals.
Working at Beaford Arts Centre, I'm lucky enough to have this as the view from our car park. This line of trees shelters the Centre from the afternoon sun in summer and from the westerly winds in winter. Most of them are protected.
