My favourite woodland is the one I am privileged to look out upon every day from our window. It is a large woodland, which covers the valley through which runs the stream Hollocombe Water - flowing into the River Taw. This woodland is mostly oak, and is beautiful every day of the year - changing colour constantly. This is one of the most lovely winter mornings when hoar frost coated every twig in white crystals.
My favourite tree. A beautiful ancient oak that's knarled with time and dotted with holes that are home to both wildlife and faeries! It sits on a footpath and is loved by generations of children who climb its burrs and branches looking for magic!
